X Vintage 1959 Martin D-28 guitar. SN 1709xx Guitar Database.

This is a 1950′s D28 which has missed the herringbone purfling which was phased out in 1947 but has a Sitka top and still retains a set of very nice Brazilian rosewood back and sides.

The prior owner Ted has this to say:”All original guitar finish and parts. No cracks. Nothing has been changed or repaired it is all original in Mint condition. Amazing very loud tone. Plays perfectly and needs nothing! A super high grade condition guitar for the serious investor or collector. I’ve never seen a cleaner more mint condition vintage guitar. This is the one AAAA++++ Grade.”

2006 Franklin Prairie State Guitar. SN 586. Guitar database

This is an recent Franklin Prairie State. Nick Kukick retains the Franklin name and is currently working as a solo luthier. The Prairie State model was derived from Stefan Grossman’s own vintage Larson Brothers 17″ Jumbo built under the Prairie State brand. Although originally an archtop, Jon Lundberg had it converted (i.e. retopped) to a flattop. The large shape but shallow depth create a unique tone particularly suited to fingerpicking but also performed well when flatpicked.

The current owner Nicolas Dussart has this to say about the guitar:”This guitar was made in Rocheport by Nick Kukich, and delivered in March 2006. However the guitar has an old label saying that’s made in Idaho. Nick told me that he’s “cheap & didn’t want to pay for new labels till the old ones ran out !”…

I bought this guitar in october 2008 from the original owner who is a friend of Nick and who is living in MO. I live in France, so the guitar made a long trip from Saint-Louis to Lille ! Nick K told me that he took the shape  off of Stefan Grossman’s Prairie State (Larson) when he re-braced his top. Sounds wonderfully, strong bass and clear trebles, very balanced and responsive, it can be really loud if you pick it hard.spa
